Alhaji Maimala Buni, National Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday pledged his party’s commitment to preserving the unity of Nigeria.
He said that ensuring the indivisibility of the country was a task that could not be compromised under the APC government.
“For too long, Nigerians had been manipulated through primordial sentiments by poor and weak leadership at the expense of unity, development and improved welfare for the citizenry.
“This administration, under President Buhari, will always promote national unity and ensure the protection of lives and property of every citizen in every part of the country.
“President Buhari is honestly and courageously fighting corruption in Nigeria, no matter who is involved, and this has paid off both at home and at the international scene.
“The APC administration is determined to change the gross maladministration and weak commitment suffered by the nation in the past,” he assured.
Buni said the fight against corruption would be pursued vigorously to promote accountability, transparency and confidence in governance.
He described the removal of subsidy on petrol as plausible decision, saying it had ensured availability of the product, removed long queues from filling stations and enhanced competition among marketers.
He called on Nigerians to always embrace dialogue in resolving areas of disagreement with government, instead of resorting to industrial actions and violence.
“We have a listening President, a considerate administration and a people-oriented national ruling party that will always look at issues based on national interest,” Buni said.
